Five-star defensive tackle Justin Scott has committed to Ohio State.
The nation’s top defensive tackle announced his commitment Sunday evening.
Scott (6-4 310) attends St. Ignatius High School in Chicago, Illinois. He committed to Ohio State over offers from programs like Georgia, Alabama, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, and everybody else.
Scott took official visits in June to Michigan, Georgia, Miami, and Ohio State, with the trip to OSU being his final visit. Clearly, Buckeyes’ defensive line coach Larry Johnson made a solid impression.
The 247Sports Composite ranks Justin Scott as the No. 14 player in the nation. He is the Buckeyes’ first defensive line commit in their 2024 class.
A powerful defender up front, Scott pushes through blockers to get into the backfield. He also has the quickness to sidestep blockers and knife through the guard and center. Scott also plays on the offensive line for St. Ignatius, where he is a punishing blocker.
Scott could be the start of a very talented defensive line haul for the Buckeyes.
The commitment came as a bit of a surprise to everyone but the Ohio State coaching staff. Ohio State now has four five-star commitments in the 2024 class. Scott joins fellow five-star prospects Jeremiah Smith (receiver), Mylan Graham (receiver), and Air Noland (quarterback). The Buckeyes don’t appear done yet, however, as they are also the perceived favorites for five star defensive ends Dylan Stewart and Eddrick Houston.
