West Virginia head coach Neal Brown enters the 2023 football season with a warm seat. The Mountaineers are coming off a 5-7 2022 campaign and have yet to win more than six games in any of Brown’s four seasons at the helm.
With a revamped Big 12 this fall, Brown addressed the new look of the conference, and the poor outlook on this season’s team, citing a recent poll that had the Mountaineers near the basement of the league.
“It starts with our staff and our belief in our players,” Brown stated. “Then how we finished last year. We beat Oklahoma, beat Oklahoma State on the road, winning two of our last three games.”
Also working in West Virginia’s quest toward beating the odds is a talented and experienced group on offense.
“Offensively this is going to be our best group,” he continued. “We return 132 starts on the offensive line. If that’s not the most in the country, it’s got to be close.”
