Notre Dame held off a vigorous challenge from both Ohio State and USC to land four-star linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa out of Bellflower (Calif.) on Sunday evening.
The addition of the 6-foot-3, 230-pounder gives the Fighting Irish their 3rd linebacker in the class of 2024 joining Bryce Young and Bodie Kahoun.
During Viliamu-Asa’s online announcement he stated that he wanted to go to a place that would have the academics along with the player development and ultimately, he felt that being part of Marcus Freeman’s program was the best of all worlds as he spurned the hometown team in USC and the presumed longtime favorite of Ohio State.
KVA shut everything down a week prior to his decision and went on a prayer retreat to look for guidance on who to ultimately select.
This commitment gives the Fighting Irish one of their highest rated defensive recruits in close to a decade.
With three linebackers in the class ,it would be pretty safe to say that the Irish are done at the position but you just never know in modern recruiting until the ink is dry on the letter of intent.
Notre Dame is in the top-10 of many of the national team recruiting rankings, but with 22 commits in the class of 2024, will that stick as many teams have yet to fill out their classes?
