The list of programs departing the Pac-12 appears it will soon increase.
Arizona is expected to soon finalize its decision to join the Big 12 Conference, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN. Thamel and ESPN also reported that Big 12 presidents and CEOs met Thursday to approve Arizona’s joining in the conference.
If Arizona does jump from the Pac-12 to the Big 12, it will be the second program to do so in less than one month. Colorado announced on July 27 that it will join the Big 12 beginning in 2024.
Arizona State and Utah have shown interest in following their conference counterparts to join the Big 12, according to Brett McMurphy of Action Network.
Arizona appears most likely to move to the Big 12 at this point in time. The university must next decide where it will position itself among major college conferences, and the Big 12 is preparing for a move.
