The result in Tuscaloosa on Saturday yielded favorable for Texas, and the Longhorns reaped the benefits in the latest Associated Press Top 25 Poll.
The Top 25 updated Sunday, and Florida State rose one spot to No. 3 while Alabama fell seven spots to No. 10. The Crimson Tide suffered a 34-24 home defeat to the 11th-ranked Longhorns, who rose seven spots to No. 4.
At No. 5 and 6, USC and Ohio State flipped places. The Buckeyes beat Youngstown State of the Football Championship Subdivision 35-7 while reigning Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Caleb Williams threw three touchdowns during the Trojans’ 56-10 rout of Stanford.
Notre Dame also rose one place to No. 9 after it went on the road and defeated NC State 45-24.
Miami, Washington State, UCLA and Iowa entered the poll at Nos. 22-25. Colorado, bustling under first-year head coach Deion Sanders at a 2-0 record, rose to No. 18.
