INDIANAPOLIS — Three years was all it took for Byron Murphy II to become an All-American at Texas and set his sights on the NFL Draft.
Murphy, a Second Team All-American last season, arrived at the NFL Combine with hopes of impressing teams with his own skill set. He played in 2023 next to Outland Trophy winner T’Vondre Sweat, and the two combined to be a force along the defensive line.
Murphy had a career-high 29 tackles and 8.5 for loss last season. The DeSoto, Texas, native also added five sacks, which were also the most in his career.
Murphy described his mindset when he steps on the field as a tough one. He’ll take the field in Indianapolis at the NFL Combine expecting to make a bigger name for himself.
“I’ll say just having the mindset of just being, ‘Can’t be stopped, won’t be stopped,’ and just doing my best just to try to be disruptive at all times,” Murphy told the media on Wednesday afternoon. “Just trying to get after the quarterback, just rushing at all times each and every play — just going hard, just giving 110% with great effort.”
