Reports: South Carolina hires former Alabama HC Mike Shula as offensive analyst

One former Alabama head coach is returning to the Southeastern Conference as an offensive analyst with South Carolina.

According to The Associated Press, South Carolina offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains said Mike Shula “recently joined the program and was with the team when it opened spring football on Tuesday.”

Shula will fill the spot left by Sean Ryan who took a position with the Miami Dolphins, according to the AP.

Shula served as head coach of the Crimson Tide from 2003-06.

Shula is the son of longtime football coach Don Shula.

Mike Shula has over two-plus decades of NFL coaching experience. He worked for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, New York Giants, Denver Broncos and most recently Buffalo Bills as a senior offensive analyst since 2022.

South Carolina finished No. 12 in the SEC averaging 26 points per game last season.
