]]> Huskies head coach Kalen DeBoer was named the Associated Press coach of the year on Tuesday after leading undefeated Washington to the Pac-12 Championship and No. 2 seed in the College Football Playoff.

DeBoer is in his second season at Washington. He came from Fresno State after spending two seasons as head coach.

With Michael Penix Jr. under center at quarterback, the Huskies offense was high-powered. Washington led college football with an average of 343.8 passing yards per game, and the Huskies had the No. 12 total offense in the NCAA.

The Huskies earned a 13-0 record under DeBoer this season. They earned quality wins over Oregon, including a second beating in the conference title game, in addition to victories over Oregon State, USC and Utah.

DeBoer and Washington are 23-2 over his two seasons as head coach. They’ll face No. 3 Texas in the Sugar Bowl during the CFP semifinals on Jan. 1, 2024.
