Alabama bumps to No. 3, Florida State rises to No. 4 in latest AP Top 25

The first full weekend of college football couldn’t have been complete without a top-10 upset.

Duke stunned then-No. 9 Clemson on Monday night, dropping the Tigers 16 spots in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll. Clemson gave up three turnovers in its 28-7 loss to Duke.

Alabama and Florida State rose in the updated AP Poll prior to Week 2. The Crimson Tide leaped Ohio State, which dropped to No. 5 after a 23-3 win over Indiana, to No. 3 while the Seminoles claimed the No. 4 spot after defeating then-No. 5 LSU 45-24 on Sunday night.

Washington, Tennessee and Notre Dame climbed into the top 10 at Nos. 8-10, respectively.

Duke and Colorado are the newcomers to the AP Top 25 this week. The Buffaloes, who went 1-11 last season, won the opening game 45-42 against then-No. 17 TCU, which dropped from the poll, under new head coach Deion Sanders.
