LSU’s Jayden Daniels among 4 named Heisman finalists

Four players were named Heisman Trophy finalists on Monday, including LSU’s Jayden Daniels, Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr., Oregon’s Bo Nix and Washington’s Michael Penix Jr.

Daniels is widely considered the favorite to win the Heisman. According to BetMGM, Daniels’ Heisman odds are -1400, the best odds among the group.

This group of Heisman finalists should result in close competition. All three of Daniels, Nix and Penix are at the top of major passing categories, while Harrison is second with 14 receiving touchdowns.

Daniels leads college football with 40 passing touchdowns, 4,218 passing yards and a 208.01 passing efficiency rating.

Harrison averaged a career-best 18.1 yards per catch this season. He brought in 1,211 yards on 67 receptions, 10 fewer than what he had in 2022 which resulted in 1,263 receiving yards.

Nix trails closely behind Daniels in a number of passing categories. He also has 40 passing touchdowns, and he leads the NCAA with a 77.2% completion.

Penix is the only Heisman finalist this season to compete in the College Football Playoff. He and No. 2 Washington won the Pac-12 Championship, and Penix leads college football averaging 324.5 passing yards per game.

The Heisman Trophy will be presented to the winner on Saturday at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
