“Joe has been instrumental to all of our athletic programs’ success during his tenure at CSU,” Parsons stated in a release. “On behalf of the entire Ram community, I want to sincerely thank Joe for his leadership and commitment to building a program that values and strives for excellence on the field and in the classroom.”

Parker will remain around “to work closely with Weber to ensure a smooth transition” in leadership as athletics director.

“It has been a privilege to serve Colorado State University and our students in this role. I want to thank our talented student-athletes, coaches and staff for their commitment and effort,” Parker stated in a release. “I also want to thank our many donors, partners and fans for helping to move the department forward and position CSU Athletics for a very bright future.”

Parsons asked Colorado State alum John Weber to serve as interim athletics director, according to a release.

“Joe has built a strong foundation for CSU Athletics, and I’m humbled by the trust and confidence President Parsons has placed in me to lead the department during such a critical time,” Weber stated in a release. “To our student-athletes and coaches – I will work tirelessly to make sure you have the support and resources needed to compete at the highest levels and to succeed academically. To our amazing alumni and fans – I will work every day to help CSU further build competitive and nationally prominent athletics programs.”
