Report: Hines Ward to become WR coach at Arizona State

Hines Ward is reportedly taking an assistant coaching position at a soon-to-be Big 12 program.

According to Pete Thamel of ESPN, the former Georgia Bulldog will join Kenny Dillingham and Arizona State’s coaching staff as wide receivers coach ahead of the 2024 season. Ward’s agreement with Arizona State “is expected to be finalized in the near future.”

Ward has previous college coaching experience at Florida Atlantic in 2021. In his coaching career, Ward had been an offensive intern with the Pittsburgh Steelers — with whom he played over 13 years in the NFL — before becoming an offensive assistant with the New York Jets in 2019.

Ward spent the 2023 season as the head coach of the San Antonio Brahmas, a team in the United Football League.

Ward played from 1994-97 at Georgia. He amassed 1,965 receiving yards and 1,066 rushing yards compiling 16 total touchdowns.
