Set to launch worldwide on July 19, a full reveal of the modes and features of EA Sports College Football 25 was announced on Friday.

Dynasty and Road To Glory modes will be available in College Football 25, according to a release. Those two modes will allow players “to construct their own powerhouse program as a created coach or vie for the Heisman as a player” in what the video game introduces as CampusIQ, which will be “a suite of features that brings to life the true depth of college football through wide open, fast-paced gameplay across all 134 FBS schools in all areas of the game.”

Over 10,000 players have opted into College Football 25, it was announced in March. Any student-athlete who opts in and has their name, image and likeness used will receive $600 and a copy of the video game.

College Football 25 will also offer “the all-new Road to the College Football Playoff and College Football Ultimate Team” that will “bring fresh online experiences and ways to play.”

We’ve felt the passion and anticipation of college football fans every step of the way since we first announced this game, and we’re ecstatic to finally be able to show everyone what we’ve been building,” EA Sports SVP and Group GM Daryl Holt stated in a release. “College Football 25 is built with authenticity at its core, inspired by experiences our fans have loved from our games, and fully evolved to reflect modern college football – all of which will immerse them in the sights, sounds, and true-to-life gameplay of the sport they love.”

EA Sports unveiled the cover of College Football 25 on Thursday, showcasing Michigan running back Donovan Edwards, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and Colorado defensive back/wide receiver Travis Hunter. They will star on the covers of the Standard and Deluxe editions.

“Donovan, Quinn and Travis are extraordinary talents who impressed and entertained millions of college football fans on the field last season and are poised to do so again this year,” Holt stated in a release. “We’re proud to be able to incorporate thousands of current athletes in College Football 25, and featuring this trio of playmakers and their iconic college programs on the cover is a perfect fit as we usher in a new era for EA SPORTS and college football. I can’t wait for the world to learn more about the game tomorrow.”

ESPN broadcasters such as Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit will “call marquee matchups,” along with other broadcast teams such as Rece Davis, Jesse Palmer and David Pollack will comprise the virtual booth and “take the mic for all other games.”

Among the gameplay features include Homefield Advantage, which will allow players to “through distractions like screen shaking, missing pre-play icons, and moving play art.” Additional features consist of Pre-Snap Recognition and the Wear & Tear System, which means virtual player stamina is affected by more play so it will be important to “manage your players’ health, limit fatigue, assess risk of injury, and avoid on-field mistakes by using strategic substitutions to ensure your players are at their best when it counts the most.”

The traditions within college football that make it one of a kind will be immersed in College Football 25. Along with team mascots and fight songs, the video game will include “unique team run-outs, rivalry rituals, synchronized crowd-chants, loudness meters as well as real game-day audio.”

Dynasty and Road To Glory modes are also offered in the video game alongside Road to the College Football Playoff, where players will “experience a new way to play competitively across consoles” and “earn rank by upsetting the toughest opponents and securing the votes you need to progress and level up divisions,” as well as College Football Ultimate Team.

College Football Ultimate Team will allow players to “build your dream team of college football stars and legends” in Solo Challenges or H2H seasons, and they can test their skill across consoles “in more competitive formats like College Football Ultimate Team Champs and Champs Gauntlet.”

EA Sports College Football 25 is available for pre-order now. According to Matt Brown of Extra Points, the video game will not be available for PC at launch. EA Sports is also offering an MVP bundle on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S that will include deluxe editions of College Football 25 and Madden NFL 25 “with 3-day early access and unlocks a multitude of benefits across both titles.”

Donovan Edwards posted on social media Monday that he’ll return to the Wolverines program.

Edwards enjoyed a historic year in 2023. He was part of the first Michigan team to win the national championship since 1997, and he also ran for two scores against No. 2 Washington in the title game.

Edwards himself handed in standout performance after standout performance. He was named Offensive Player of the Week four times last season.

The West Bloomfield, Michigan, native ran for 497 yards and five touchdowns in 2023.

Perhaps Edwards’ best season came in 2022. He ran for a career-high 997 yards and seven touchdowns.

With Edwards back in the backfield, Michigan will have a veteran presence at running back in 2024. Former Michigan ball-carrier Blake Corum announced his decision to declare for the NFL Draft on Sunday.

The No. 1 Wolverines took it all in on Monday night, just after beating No. 2 Washington 34-13 in the College Football Playoff National Championship. It secured Michigan’s first CFP title and first national championship since 1997, all under the tutelage of head coach and “Michigan man” Jim Harbaugh. 

“Glorious win. Could not be happier or prouder,” Harbaugh said. “Our team, 15-0. Took on all comers. Last one standing. It’s a great feeling, and just so happy for our players, for our parents, for their grandparents, our coaches (offensive coordinator) Sherrone Moore, (defensive coordinator) Jesse Minter, (running backs and assistant special teams coach) Jay Harbaugh, the coordinators, the coaches, the staff just couldn’t have had a better game. Jesse Minter, I mean, A-plus-plus the whole way. And for me, personally, I can now sit at the big person’s table in the family. They won’t keep me over there on the little table anymore. My dad Jack Harbaugh won a national championship and my brother won a Super Bowl so it’s good to be at the big person table from now on.”

Michigan jumped out to a 17-7 lead after running back Donovan Edwards scored two 40-plus yard rushing touchdowns in the first quarter. 

Washington answered back in the second quarter when Michael Penix Jr. Connected with receiver Jalen McMillan on a 3-yard touchdown bringing the score to 17-10 at halftime. 

But the Wolverines held the Huskies to 141 yards in the second half and forced two turnovers to outscore Washington 17-3 in the third and fourth quarters. 

It didn’t come easily for the Wolverines. They punted on three-straight drives in the second half while Washington trailed behind 20-13. 

“We started off really hot, everything was clicking, but I feel like we got to points in the games where we were beating ourselves,” Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy said. “I was missing throws. I was missing some reads, and it just comes down to moving on to the next play, flushing the last play and just staying in the present moment and just trying to attack one play at a time.”

McCarthy went 10-of-18 for 140 yards, and it was completely Michigan’s running attack and defense that helped seal the Wolverines’ national title. 

The Wolverines ran for a season-high 303 yards, including 209 in the first half, while they became the first team with two 100-plus yard rushers in a CFP National Championship.

Blake Corum led Michigan with 134 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He said Michigan manifested its national championship ever since it lost to TCU in the CFP semifinals for a second-straight year in 2022. 

“For me, when we all decided to come back, we knew what it took to get here, right? And when we all said we’re coming back and the guys that had no other choice but to come back, we had to pay attention to details, and our strength coach actually hit on it (Sunday night) when he was talking to us,” Corum said. “But it’s the little things, the details and the details, and we really locked in on those details all the way back to winter workouts, summer workouts. We were always just trying to execute at a high level and pay attention to detail. I think that’s what separated us a lot.”

Now that Harbaugh gets to sit at “the big person’s table” in his family, the Wolverines also secured a special place in history. 

Harbaugh and Michigan underwent a season full of controversy. Harbaugh served a self-imposed three-game suspension to start the season due to recruiting violations and he also was suspended the final three games of the regular season by the Big Ten Conference after its investigation into in-person scouting led by former staff member Connor Stalions. 

Harbaugh had been tight-lipped about the ongoing investigations into Michigan’s program throughout the season. He focused on the “one-track mind” and preached it all season long, and now that the season is over, Harbaugh shed a little light. 

“It couldn’t have gone better. It went exactly how we wanted it to go to win every game,” Harbaugh said. “Off the field issues, we’re innocent. And we stood strong and tall because we knew we’re innocent. And I’d just like to point that out. And these guys, these guys are innocent. And yeah, (to) overcome that wasn’t that hard because we knew we were innocent.”

Whether Michigan holds onto its national championship remains to be seen. Speculation has swirled regarding the ongoing NCAA investigation into in-person scouting that the Wolverines could vacate their 2023 season. 

But that all remains speculation. For now, though, Michigan is on top of the college football world, and it doesn’t plan on stopping here. 

“It takes a lot more than just being a football player to be a Michigan man, and everything that — the rigorous school, schedule, the rigorous football schedule just forces us into these Michigan men and couldn’t be in a better spot,” McCarthy said.

Edwards sprung for a 41-yard touchdown on the game-opening drive, and Michigan (15-0, 9-0 Big Ten Conference) held the lead ever since.

Edwards struck again later in the first quarter, this time on a 46-yard rush to the right side of the line of scrimmage that gave Michigan a 14-3 lead with 2:23 left in the quarter. 

Washington’s (14-1, 10-0 Pac-12 Conference) response in the first half came in the form of a 3-yard touchdown reception caught by receiver Jalen McMillan. Michael Penix Jr. finished the game 27-of-51 for 255 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. 

The Huskies trailed by one score 17-10 at halftime. At that point in the game, Michigan had 209 rushing yards compared to 160 total yards produced by Washington’s offense. 

The beat played on in the second half for Michigan. It intercepted Penix on the first play of the third quarter and terrorized him for two turnovers.

Neither team had much luck converting on late downs. Both teams combined to go 3-of-24 on third down and 2-of-6 on fourth down, and Washington had four of those conversions. 

Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy did just enough on offense to lead the Wolverines offensively. He may not have produced as much as he would’ve liked in the passing game, but he had provided a running threat that kept the Huskies on their toes. 

McCarthy went 10-of-18 for 140 passing yards. He scrambled four times for 31 yards, and had a 22-yard conversion in the third quarter. 

It marks Michigan’s first national title since 1997.

The Wolverines totaled 303 rushing yards. Blake Corum led the way with 134 yards on the ground and Edwards had 104, becoming the first duo to have over 100 rushing yards in the CFP National Championship. 

Dillon Johnson led Washington with 33 of its 46 rushing yards. Rome Odunze had 87 receiving yards on five receptions.

With 42 seconds left in the second quarter, Huskies quarterback Michael Penix Jr. fired across the middle to receiver Jalen McMillan for a 3-yard touchdown. It brought Washington back within a score 17-10.

It was also Penix’s first touchdown of the game. It capped an 11-play, 61-yard drive that lasted 4 minutes.

Michigan leads 17-10 at halftime. The Wolverines totaled 290 yards in the first half to Washington’s 161.

Wolverines quarterback J.J. McCarthy went 5-of-11 for 81 passing yards. Michigan ran for 209 yards in the first half led by 93 yards from Donovan Edwards and 84 yards for Blake Corum.

Penix went 13-for-21 for 128 passing yards and a touchdown.

With 2:23 left in the first quarter, Michigan running back Donovan Edwards took the handoff from quarterback J.J. McCarthy and hit a hole toward his right.

Edwards broke free for 46 yards down the right numbers and toward the corner of the end zone for his second rushing touchdown of the College Football Playoff National Championship game. Both scores went for 41 yards or more.

Edwards is now up to 87 rushing yards on two carries. Michigan is averaging 14.2 yards per play.

Washington’s first drive on offense stalled out toward the red zone. Huskies kicker Grady Gross made a 25-yard field goal just inside the right goal post to pull Washington within 7-3.

On the game-opening drive, No. 1 Michigan scored first thanks to a 41-yard touchdown run by running back Donovan Edwards.

Edwards ran left and broke through several defenders before finding green grass. It’s his fourth rushing touchdown of the season.

Michigan now leads No. 2 Washington with 10:14 left in the first quarter of the title game.

No. 2 Michigan claimed the biggest win of the week and arguably the biggest one of the season so far. The Wolverines defeated No. 6 Ohio State 30-24 after defensive back Rod Moore sealed the game with an interception in the final minute.

No. 5 Oregon advanced to the Pac-12 Championship game, while Atlantic Coast Conference Championship participant No. 10 Louisville fell to Kentucky 38-31. 

Here are some of the top statistical performances from Week 13. 

Blake Corum, Michigan 

The Wolverines leaned heavily on the duo of running back Blake Corum and quarterback J.J. McCarthy, as the pair combined for three touchdowns against the Buckeyes. 

Corum split the job with running back Donovan Edwards, who rushed for over 200 yards a year ago against the Ohio State defense. Both had at least 10 carries and at least 31 yards rushing, and Corum played his role as the lead back. 

Corum averaged four yards per carry and earned his due down the stretch. He had just 19 rushing yards in the first half. 

When Michigan needed an inch, Corum provided a yard. When the Wolverines needed a yard, he gave them three. 

Corum finished with 88 rushing yards and two touchdowns. His first score helped him capture the Wolverines’ single-season rushing touchdown record, and Corum has 22 on the year. 

Both of Corum’s scores against Ohio State came within the red zone, as he ran in 22-yard and 1-yard touchdowns. 

Now, Corum and the Wolverines enter the postseason undefeated and hungry to defend two-straight Big Ten titles. 

Audric Estime, Notre Dame 

Notre Dame running back Audric Estime has had a strong season and should be in contention for All-American recognition. 

He added to his year on Saturday with a 238-yard performance at Stanford. It was a season-high rushing output for the junior.

Estime broke of his longest run of the day against the Cardinal with a 39-yard score in the first quarter. It came on his fourth carry. 

The Nyack, New York, native tore up the field for four touchdowns, also a season-high for the Fighting Irish ball-carrier. 

Estime now owns the single-season rushing record at Notre Dame with 18 this seeason. 

Noah Fifita, Arizona 

Arizona quarterback Noah Fifita has enjoyed a solid season under the radar amid a flurry of fantastic quarterback play in the Pac-12. 

On Saturday, Fifita threw for a program-record 527 yards and five touchdowns. Fifita had two touchdown passes of less than 10 yards and added three of at least 21 yards. 

The Wildcats started fast and kept their foot on the gas pedal against Arizona State. The final time the two rival schools meet in the Pac-12 ended with Arizona in 59-23 triumph, and Fifita had a large role. 

By halftime Fifita already had 357 passing yards and two touchdowns. He only piled on more in the second half. 

With the win, Arizona improved to 9-3 and earned its highest win total since the 2014 season. 

Cody Schrader, Missouri 

No. 9 Missouri has had a season beyond expectations, and head coach Eli Drinkwitz said last week that the program has new respectability after reaching nine wins for the first time since 2014. 

The Tigers had another test in Arkansas on the road last weekend, and they emerged victorious in a 48-14 blowout. 

Former walk-on and running back Cody Shrader turned in his latest impressive performance, turning in 217 rushing yards and a touchdown. 

For a fifth-straight game, Schrader had at least 100 rushing yards breaking the Missouri school record. 

Schrader’s longest run went for 49 yards and his touchdown came from 3 yards out in the first quarter. 

Schrader leads the Southeastern Conference with 1,489 rushing yards. 

Taulia Tagovailoa, Maryland 

The Big Ten now has a new all-time leading passer.

Last season, Taulia Tagovailoa became Maryland’s all-time leading passing in career yards. This year, he’s broken the conference record eclipsing 11,200 yards. 

Tagovailoa and the Terrapins beat Rutgers on the road 42-24, and the quarterback threw for over 300 yards for the third time this season. 

Tagovailoa had 361 passing yards, a season-high, at the Scarlet Knights. He also added three passing touchdowns, and all three came within the first 20 minutes of the game for more than 17 yards. 

Tagovailoa leads the Big Ten with 3,377 passing yards and 25 touchdowns.

The Wolverines were without Jim Harbaugh, who served the first of a three-game suspension as a result of the Big Ten Conference’s discipline of the Wolverines program for in-person, advanced scouting. Moore was emotional after the victory. 

“I want to thank the Lord,” Moore said. “I want to thank coach Harbaugh. I f—ing love you, man. I love the s— out of you, man. We did this for you, for this university, the president, our AD. We got the best players, best university, best alumni in the country. Love you guys. These f—ing guys right here. These guys right here man. These guys did it. These guys did it man.”

Moore and the Wolverines rolled to 10-0 amid a season in which investigations and suspensions have loomed over the team. 

So when Moore had an opportunity to talk up the Michigan program and the state of the Wolverines, he took it. 

“I’m a pretty calm guy but there’s a lot of emotions,” Moore said. “Being here six years, I feel like this place is home. What coach Harbaugh has done for me just giving me the opportunity to be here and this whole university and these players, these fans, I mean, this place is like home to me. Home to my family. So it’s very deep, and I wear my heart on my sleeve. I work extremely hard as we all do so that meant a lot for us to get this win in this situation. To show that and make it about players, the players are — we have elite players, elite university, and just so happy for them.” 

In the days and weeks leading up to the Big Ten’s announced suspension of Harbaugh following in-person scouting, Michigan supporters asked conference commissioner Tony Petitti for due process in investigating the Wolverines program. 

Michigan university president Santa Ono wrote a letter last week to Petitti encouraging due process. After Harbaugh’s suspension was announced, athletics director Warde Manuel released a statement Saturday criticizing the Big Ten and NCAA. 

Playing without Harbaugh, Moore said the message rang a similar tune as usual to the Wolverines players. 

“Play for yourselves, play for the team and play for Michigan. That’s the constant message,” Moore said. “We did make it about him. Just play for everybody that you’ve always played for. Think about this game as you’re in the backyard with the boys, with your friends, and you’re just going to have to win. This was a tournament game for us, a playoff game for us, so we knew we had to do whatever we needed to do to win. So it’s been a crazy 24 hours but at the same time our team is built for this. Our staff is built for this, and we’re all built for it.”

Michigan beat Penn State on the ground, rushing for 227 yards which are the most allowed by the Nittany Lions this season. 

Running backs Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards each had a rushing touchdown, and the former had two, while the team carried the rock for 4.9 yards per run. 

“We got two of the best backs in the country so at the end of the day we do whatever it takes to win,” Moore said. “Sometimes it’s throwing more, sometimes it’s punting more, and we’re going to do whatever we can in that game to win. We thought as we got into the game obviously the run game became priority, and I think our guys up front really asserted themselves to be dominant and those backs ran super hard so I was really excited about that.” 

The Wolverines FaceTimed Harbaugh after the victory. Moore said Harbaugh “always alluded to” him potentially serving as acting head coach if a suspension was announced in the week leading up to the Penn State game. 

Moore said he leaned on defensive coordinator Jesse Minter and running backs coach Mike Hart among members of the coaching staff against the Nittany Lions. Amid tumultuous times for the Michigan program, the Wolverines led themselves to a top-10 win despite the news. 

“They were ready. It’s crazy,” Moore said. “This team is different. They’re built very different, and we let them know that coach wasn’t going to be there. And they knew that there was possibly that he wasn’t, and then when we told them here, they were ready to go. They didn’t flinch.”

Michigan was initially shut out in the first quarter, then the Wolverines running backs turned up the jets. 

Corum ran in the first touchdown from 3 yards out with 11:56 left to play in the second quarter. On the Wolverines’ next drive, running back Donovan Edwards punched in a 22-yard rushing touchdown to stretch Michigan’s lead to 14-3. 

Penn State quarterback Drew Allar ran in a score of his own in the final minute of the first half, and the two-point conversion failed on the ensuing play. 

That was the name of the game for Penn State. The Nittany Lions trailed by eight points for much of the second half after Michigan kicker James Turner made a 22-yard field goal. 

The Wolverines ended the game having ran 30-consecutive rushing plays. Quarterback JJ McCarthy, who didn’t attempt a pass in the second half, finished 7-of-8 for 60 yards. 

Corum had another big run of 30 yards that went into the end zone late in the fourth quarter to put the Wolverines ahead 24-9. 

After three first down conversions, Allar found receiver Theo Johnson from 8 yards out for a touchdown, and once again, the two-point attempt failed, keeping the Nittany Lions down 24-15 the rest of the way.

Corum had 145 yards on 26 carries, and Michigan defensive back Will Johnson had two pass break-ups. 

Allar finished 10-of-22 for 70 yards and a touchdown.
