It just means more in the Southeastern Conference.

The SEC announced its 2025 football scheduling format on Wednesday and revealed that each team “will play eight conference games plus one required opponent from the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 or major independent” much like in the upcoming 2024 season.

READ: Reports: Alabama DB Kool-Aid McKinstry runs 40 with Jones fracture in foot at Pro Day

2024 will be a major year for the SEC. It will be the first with Oklahoma and Texas joining the conference from the Big 12, and it will also be the first year that the conference does away with divisions.

“We continue to monitor changes across college sports as they relate to future scheduling,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey stated in a release. “Continuing with our current format for the 2025 season provides additional time to understand the impact of the changes happening around us as we determine the appropriate long-term plan for SEC football scheduling.”

The SEC Presidents and Chancellors followed a recommendation from conference athletics directors and approved the 2025 schedule format, according to a release.

The SEC’s full schedule “will be announced at a later time,” according to a release.

There are many paths one can take to reach the NFL.

There are some that can lead to the Super Bowl, the grandest stage of them all where the two best teams in football meet one another for the top prize in football: the Lombardi Trophy.

Oklahoma leads the way with six former players who will appear in the Super Bowl. Georgia is close behind with five, and other programs, such as Florida and Michigan, have four each.

Here is the full list of players and their alma maters ahead of Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday.

Hankton also joined the Tigers after Kelly arrived in Baton Rouge. He coached the likes of Kayshon Boutte and Malik Nabers, helping LSU reach its second-highest totals of 6,344 total yards and 3,770 passing yards in program history in 2022.

The number of unbeaten teams left in college football has dwindled down to 10.

Last week, 13 programs remained undefeated going into Week 7. No. 9 Oregon, No. 18 USC and No. 21 Louisville all lost their matchups this past weekend.

READ: Washington climbs to No. 5, North Carolina enters top-10 in AP Top 25

Programs such as Air Force and Liberty maintain unblemished records, on the flip side. The Falcons entered the Associated Press Top 25 poll on Sunday at No. 22.

Here are some of the top statistical performances from Week 7.

Elic Ayomanor, Stanford

Colorado entered its Week 7 game off a bounce-back victory over Arizona State, and this time the Buffaoes were tasked with facing a 1-4 Stanford squad.

Stanford ultimately got the best of Colorado in double overtime on Friday night, defeating the Buffaloes 46-43 after coming back from a 29-0 deficit.

Ayomanor played a large role in Stanford’s comeback efforts. The Cardinal receiver caught three touchdowns in the game, the first such game of his young career, as the freshman totaled 294 receiving yards.

Ayomanor had nine of his 13 catches come in the fourth quarter or later. He converted five first downs in the latter part of the game during which he caught the game-winning touchdown on a 30-yarder from quarterback Ashton Daniels.

Ayomanor’s 294 receiving yards led all receivers in Week 7.

Jason Bean, Kansas

This week’s lone quarterback in the Stat Pack is Bean, who suffered a defeat at Oklahoma State as the Jayhawks fell 39-32.

Bean matched Oklahoma State quarterback Alan Bowman and completd 68% of his passes. Bean threw for 410 yards across 23 completions.

Of those completions, five went for touchdowns. Bean had scoring throws of 49, 47, 44, 42 and 30 yards, showing he’s more than capable of having a dangerous deep ball.

Bean fell 29 yards short of being this week’s leading passer, as that title went to TCU quarterback Jason Hoover in a 44-11 winning effort over BYU.

But Bean more than kept Kansas in the game against Oklahoma State, setting new career-highs in passing touchdowns and yards. His 205.7 passer rating is among the leaders this week.

Daijun Edwards, Georgia

Edwards had a career game for Georgia this week as the Bulldogs went on to defeat Vanderbilt on the road 37-20.

Edwards rushed for a career-best 146 yards on 20 carries, averaging more than seven yards each time he touched the football.

The Norman Park, Georgia, native also cashed in a 1-yard insurance touchdown with 3:13 left to play. It marked the fourth of the past five games that Edwards has had a rushing touchdown.

The Bulldogs’ rushing effort on Saturday led to a season-best 291 rushing yards in the game.

Will Reichard, Alabama

Reichard made history on Saturday, becoming the all-time leading scorer in Southeastern Conference history.

Reichard made his first extra point of the game with 58 seconds left on the clock in the first quarter. It moved him into first in the SEC’s history books with the 481st point of his career.

The graduate from Hoover, Alabama, kicked three extra points and a 30-yard field goal in the 2-21 win over Arkansas. He’s now made 26-consecutive field goals dating back to last season.

Reichard now has 485 points in his career, which are seventh-most in NCAA history.

The return of the college football regular season is here.

Opening kickoffs took place around the country last weekend, and there is more set to take place later this week.

A pair of Associated Press Top 25 programs picked up wins in No. 6 USC and No. 13 Notre Dame. Both starting quarterbacks threw for four touchdowns, while Caleb Williams began his Heisman Trophy defense campaign and Sam Hartman welcomed himself to Notre Dame.

Here are some of the top statistical performances from Week 0.

Zachariah Branch, USC

Among this week’s top performers includes true freshman Zachariah Branch of USC.

In his first collegiate game, Branch scored two touchdowns, including a 96-yard kickoff return that he took back to the end zone.

Branch caught all four of his targets for 58 yards, which were the second most among Trojans behind Tahj Washington who caught 85. Branch converted three first downs for USC, averaging 14 1/2 yards per catch.

He leads the NCAA with 232 all-purpose yards after his college debut. That’s quite the start for the USC freshman wide receiver.

Audric Estime, Notre Dame

While Hartman paced the Fighting Irish through the air, Estime kept the balance on the ground.

It wasn’t an entirely even offensive game for Notre Dame. Hartman and Steve Angeli passed for 253 yards while Notre Dame collected 191 rushing yards.

Estime racked up 95 of those yards — and had 26 more receiving.

Hartman and Notre Dame handed the ball off to Estime six times on the game’s opening drive. The junior ball-carrier capped the drive with a 1-yard touchdown rush after setting himself up on the previous play by running for seven yards.

Estime is currently tied for fourth in the NCAA behind his 95-yard rushing performance. He began the season on a high note that Notre Dame will look toward as it continues its run to start the year.

Shomari Lawrence, Florida International University

The NCAA leader in rushing yards, Lawrence and FIU battled Louisiana Tech in an early conference matchup.

Lawrence debuted for the Panthers, making his move from South Dakota of the Football Championship Subdivision.

The 6-foot running back broke off for a 67-yard touchdown rush less than one minute into the game’s opening drive.

Show 'em the jets @ShomariLawrenc4 pic.twitter.com/ajgO9EsOZm
— FIU Football (@FIUFootball) August 27, 2023

Lawrence had runs of 16 and nine yards thereafter and converted on two first downs. He totaled 15 carries and averaged 9.27 yards per attempt, almost four yards more than Estime who is the next closest running back.

While Louisiana Tech gave up a lead it once held by as much as 17-3, Lawrence gave an early look at what he can do in a Panthers uniform.

Isaiah Tufaga, Hawaii

Tufaga represents one of two defensive players who round out this week’s stat pack.

The sixth-year linebacker Tufaga had a busy season opener against Vanderbilt. He led the Rainbow Warriors with eight tackles, and several came after passes that showed Tufaga’s ability to run across the field.

Tufaga also leads the NCAA after recording a pair of sacks. He stopped Vanderbilt quarterback AJ Swann twice in the second quarter for a pair of 8-yard losses.

The two sacks made up three of Tufaga’s tackles for losses, which are also an NCAA high after Week 0. Hawaii’s second half comeback bid may’ve fallen short, but Tufaga played well and led the defense with his ability to fly to the football.

De’Rickey Wright, Vanderbilt

A 6-foot-4 safety playing in the Commodores’ secondary, Wright patrolled the field and came up with two interceptions to lead the way to a 42-35 victory.

With 6:12 left to play in the second quarter, Hawaii crept the football up as close as Vanderbilt’s 1-yard line.

Wright swooped in on a first-and-five situation and snagged the football, bringing down his first interception and resulting in a touchback for the Commodores offense to begin.

DE'RICKEY WRIGHT! pic.twitter.com/ARb0UQkAj9
— Vanderbilt Football (@VandyFootball) August 27, 2023

Wright also had his hand involved in a number of other plays. He recorded three tackles, a pass break-up and a forced fumble, all the while helping Vanderbilt maintain a lead for the majority of the game.

His second interception came in the final two minutes of the game when Hawaii quarterback Dalen Morrs made his only throw of the game. Wright caught the ball with 1:43 left to play, and Vanderbilt held onto it the rest of the way.
